Personal Training

In order to achieve your fitness related goals efficiently, safely and without getting bored, the use of a qualified and experienced Personal Trainer is without doubt an excellent choice. Following the completion of a thorough Health Status Questionnaire (HSQ)** and a Fitness Assessment your goals will be clearly defined and a series of programs will be designed with this in mind. My role is to motivate, correct, encourage, push and ultimately ensure your goals are achieved. It is important to understand that the HSQ & Fitness Assessments may highlight aspects of your health and fitness that need addressing that you had not considered previously so be prepared for me to add to your goals if necessary.

If your needs are more Sport Specific I will use a careful analysis of you and your sport by means of a Needs Analysis and Video Recording of you in training / competition to help draw attention to technical flaws and then utilize various periodisation programs to ensure your targets are met. For those of you undergoing rehabilitation following an injury, my knowledge of Sports Therapy will enable me to safely balance your strengths and weaknesses and ensure your goals are met without putting you at risk of worsening your injury.

For a FREE Consultation during which your goals and needs are clearly established please contact me and I will get back to you within 24 hours.

Lumbopelvic Core Stability is a fundamental part of all movement and due to lack of knowledge and our general lifestyle habits most of us have poor core stabilisers and are not aware of it. The muscles that form our lumbopelvic core encircle our trunk and need to be developed via a selection of challenging exercises utilising equipment like the stability disc and stability ball and once fully developed will ensure our movement patterns are more efficient and that we reduce the risk of back and associated injuries. It is however important to appreciate that exercising on stability balls has become very fashionable and not all exercises incorporating the stability ball focuses on your core.

Your core should be trained primarily in a position similar to your sport thus sports like football, rugby, netball, basket and hockey require a greater percent of the time spent training the core to be done in an upright position. This would then require the use of the cable machine and medicine ball more than the stability ball.

Providing your back is not being supported during exercise, your core is being activiated / trained. Standing on a stability ball may well be somewhat challenging but it trains your balance and proprioception far more than your lumbar core.
